A chalice with the word Love over the flame, surrounded by three interlocking and elliptical orbits of color resembling the stylized motion of subatomic particles. As the orbits intersect each other, the colors shift from dark pink to red, aqua to dark blue, and goldenrod to bright green. Within the open spaces formed by each interlocking orbit are the six UU shared values in a modern font: Clockwise: Transformation (aqua), Equity (bright green), Pluralism (red), Interdependence (dark blue), Justice (goldenrod), and Generosity (dark pink).

November 9, 2025 – “To Live In This World” – A Five Points Cluster Shared Worship Service at First Parish Stoughton (10:30 a.m.)

Sunday, November 9, 2025, 10:30 AM – “To Live in This World,” a Five Points Cluster Shared Worship Service hosted by First Parish Stoughton, with Deborah Weiner and special music featuring the Five Points Cluster Joint Choir

We travel many paths and come from diverse backgrounds as residents of this land. While exploring Amish Country in Pennsylvania this summer, the juxtaposition of living a life isolated from the present day and rooted in the past, yet relating to people who live in the “modern” world, became clear. What does it take to live in this world while rooting one foot in another century – and what can we who live in today’s society learn from this clash of cultures?

Deborah Weiner is a Unitarian Universalist transitional ministries consultant and leader who has worked with congregations throughout the US and Canada. Deb is a lifelong UU and a credentialed interim religious educator focused on helping congregations in transition bring health and vitality to their ministries and congregational systems.

November 9, 2025 – Joint Choir Invitation from First Parish of Stoughton, MA Music Coordinator

“Joint Choir Invitation from Music Coordinator Linda F. Brookfield:

Music Coordinator Linda F. Brookfield invites you to join once again to sing together at our upcoming Five Points Cluster shared worship service in Stoughton on November 9th. The service starts at 10:30. She would like to meet at 9:30 for warm-up and then get to work. She hopes to finish the practice no later than 10:10. That will give us time to have a little break and let the minister, worship associate, and Linda go over some details of the service.

The anthem is Thanksgiving Song by Mary Chapin Carpenter, arranged by John Purifoy. Please listen to the recording. This recording has some timing mistakes. That’s because the timing is a bit tricky, but Linda will help us get through it! Linda would also like us to sing it a bit faster than presented here. If you happen to have this piece in your library, please bring your own copy.  Linda has 10 copies in our music library for our use that day.

Linda hopes to have us use Dona Nobis Pacem (gray hymnal Singing the Living Tradition #388) as a round for the entire church that day as the Closing Music (Postlude).  Linda would have us sing it as a round.

Please let Linda know that you plan to attend by emailing her at:  music@firstparishstoughton.org

….

Thank you!  Hope to see you on November 9!”

Join the UUA on Oct 18 for No Kings National Day of Mobilization: September Update from UU the Vote

Our democracy is fragile, and recent headlines remind us just how dangerous political violence has become in our public life. Safety cannot come at the expense of others and attempts to silence or harm political opponents threaten the very fabric of democracy itself.

As people of faith, we know that democracy is not about domination, it’s about covenant: how we live together, honor each other’s dignity, and shape a shared future. We also know that true safety comes not from fear and weapons, but from building communities of belonging and accountability. That’s why we must continue to press for common-sense gun reform and resist a culture that normalizes violence.

At Side With Love, we organize not out of nostalgia for a broken past, but out of hope for a liberatory future. A multiracial democracy where everyone’s voice matters is only possible when we reject violence and instead practice love in action.

In this month’s email, you’ll find resources, trainings, and upcoming events to help you put that love into practice: registering voters, protecting elections, and strengthening the collective power we need to build a democracy where all can thrive.

In solidarity,

Side With Love

The Unitarian Universalist Association has signed on as an official partner of the No Kings National Day of Mobilization on Saturday, October 18.  Building on the momentum from the first No Kings protests in June, we are mobilizing for another mass day of resistance, resilience, and action.  Our commitment to building a multiracial democracy shows up in how we resist the abduction and deportation of our immigrant community members; how we resist voter suppression in the legislature and at the ballot box; how we celebrate our LGBTQ+ kin and communities – and on October 18, shows up in how we collectively cry out No Kings! (Interested in hosting a local #NoKings event with your UU congregation?  Register your event here to receive training and resources.
