May 1, 2025 – Public Witness for Democracy at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Canton (5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.)

“In recognition that the national challenges of these times pose dangers to our Unitarian Universalist values and principles – of which love, justice, equity, and democracy have been central – your…” First Parish Unitarian Universalist Canton “…parish committee has voted to be in solidarity with many different organizations resisting these threats to human well-being and beloved community….” First Parish Unitarian Universalist Canton “…has continued to offer its lawn space for these groups to come together in peaceful public witness. The next one being planned as a national day of action is this coming Thursday, May 1, from 5:30-6:30PM in honor of what is known as Labor Day in many parts of the world, or International Workers Day. We have some pre-made signs or you can bring your own sign if you’d like to join us!
* Since the Canton Helpline is our Faith in Action partner for May, we also will be hosting a special collection of food for the food pantry on this Thursday (as well as all Sundays in May that we are present for a service). Here are the most needed items for food donations by the Canton Helpline food pantry at this time:
- Pasta
- Spaghetti sauce
- Canned tomato products (diced, crushed, paste, stewed)
- Cereal-regular sized boxes
- Canned pastas like Beefaroni, cheese and beef ravioli, SpaghettiOs
- Rice mixes like Near East
- Snacks like chips, cookies, crackers
- Tea bags”
